It can really take you back to the good ol’ days of waking up early and just plopping yourself in front of the television on Saturdays for the morning cartoons.
Unfortunately, today’s programming just isn’t the same anymore and animated TV classics are sometimes hard to come by. Before you go out and buy expensive DVD box sets of your favorite toon series, you can still relive your childhood days free of charge thanks to the Web.

Internet Archive — Betty Boop & Popeye

The Internet Archive offers a great collection of classic cartoon TV shows all the way from the 1930’s and 1940’s. Its Film Chest of vintage cartoons includes everything from obscure characters to animation legends like Popeye and Betty Boop.

Each video includes the title of the animation, a short description, and other information like directors, producers, and production companies. Not only can you watch the classics, you can also download them! Just look for the movie files and download as Ogg Video, 512Kb MPEG4, or DivX.

The cartoons may be old, but don’t worry about the quality. According to Internet Archive, all of the videos have been transferred from original 35 film prints and digitally remastered.

I’ll always remember watching Kids WB on Saturday mornings and on weekdays right after getting home from school. Thankfully, the now online network boasts an impressive lineup of full episodes available for your viewing pleasure.

While Hulu’s Animation and Cartoons channel is mostly full of modern stuff, there are some classics in the mix. Some of the cartoon series featured include Woody Woodpecker (new), Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, The Pink Panther, and Speed Racer.

Can’t find your favorite cartoon? Your best bet would be to search YouTube for clips and maybe even full episodes if you’re lucky. It’s the only place I’ve been able to find old Nickelodeon shows online.

Clip & Convert Your Video Faster With Quicktime X & The New Handbrake 64-bit [Mac]

Recently a friend of mine asked for my help to find a video of a good presentation to be shown to one of his classes. He also requested for it to be iPod friendly as he would also distribute the video to his students. Three things came to my mind: Steve Jobs, Quicktime and Handbrake . First step: The Cutting To get only a specific part of the Keynote, I clipped the 1+ hour video into about 20 minutes using Quicktime X (which comes with Snow Leopard). Although seriously long in the tooth and being disrupted by a plethora of startups, for many years Skype has existed as an almost ubiquitous app in any remote team’s toolkit. So it seems apt that a new startup founded by a team of ex-Skype employees is set to tackle another aspect of online collaboration. Deekit, which exits private beta today, is a virtual and collaborative whiteboard to help remote teams work smarter. The Tallinn, Estonia-based startup is headed up by founder and CEO, Kaili Kleemeier, who was previously a Head of Operations at Skype. She and three colleagues quit the Internet calling giant in 2012 and spent a year researching ideas in the remote team space.
