How You Can Learn A New Language While Browsing The Web With Lingua.ly

if I look back at my day, I spend nearly all of it browsing the Web. I pick up a lot of information on the way. A new language isn’t usually one of them. The Internet has helped to do away with the language tutor – websites like Duolingo and Busuu can easily tell you if you have an ear for new languages; and how you can develop one. But once you get the basics right, you need to keep practicing. That’s what inspired me to write the article on how to learn a new language with the help of Chrome. Following in that wake, I discovered Lingua.ly . Lingua.ly is another innovative language learning tool that helps you become familiar with foreign words while browsing the Web. Lingua.ly turns the entire Web into a “language learning platform”. Don’t get me wrong here… it might not take you from scratch to an interpreter on call. It will though, help you get sufficient practice so that you reach there faster. Begin Your Language Class Lingua.ly is a Chrome extension . Think o

5 Ways To Prevent Hackers From Accessing Your Online Accounts

Getting hacked is an unfortunate part of being on the Internet today. The cold hard truth is that if you want to stay 100% digitally secure, then stay off the Internet. But it’s not all doom and gloom — by using some simple, yet effective security measures, you can make any hackers dream of getting into your accounts, an absolute nightmare. Always Use Strong Passwords The sheer amount of people that still use extremely basic passwords is astonishing. For example, I recently had a client whose password for PayPal was something along the lines of “doggybag” and this was for a dog treat company! Even the most inexperienced of hackers could break that password in a matter of minutes. The least you can do is to create a strong and easy to remember password, which is a lot simpler than you think. For example changing an “S” for an “$”, or using a zero instead of an “o” will immediately make your passwords a lot more difficult to crack. By applying this method, we can easil

Turn Back Time: 4 Tools & Tips To Restore Deleted Files In Windows

One of Windows’ biggest flaws could be your rescue, should you ever accidentally delete an important file: The Windows file system does not actually delete files. Until they are overwritten, deleted files can be restored. So you just completed that thesis paper and accidentally sent it to the land of erased files and destroyed dreams? Maybe you lost all of the photos from your three-month summer vacation – not quite as devastating as a deleted thesis paper, but painful nonetheless. Or perhaps the file you deleted wasn’t so important but you want it back anyway. The files may not be in your Recycle Bin but there’s still hope for you yet. For those of you on Windows, there are some tools out there that can restore deleted files and do so with a pretty good success rate, so take a deep breath and relax. Give these tools a go and see if you can’t bring your lost data back from the grave. Not on Windows? There are platform-specific tools for you, too, but Pandora Recovery w

15 Ridiculously Awesome Videos For Bicycle Enthusiasts Of All Kinds

Whether it’s enjoying a nice paved trail through countryside, doing the daily commute to the grocery store to get food, or bombing through some singletrack  on a mountain side, biking is a huge passion for many. I still consider myself an amateur compared to experienced cyclists and mountain bikers, so on many occasions I turn to the Internet for improving my biking IQ. In the midst of doing that, I also discovered plenty of videos of incredible riders all around the world, even some right where I live. If Only Every Mountain Biking Video Was Shot Like This Some might argue that you shouldn’t start a meal (article) with desert (the best), but honestly, I can’t help it — this is my favorite mountain biking video of all time. One thing that always amazes me is how videographers get “those shots” – you know, the ones that seem practically impossible. And this video is full of them. That aside, the mountain bikers are extremely skilled, and how all four of them fly thr

How To Add Speech Recognition Capabilities To Your Website Search Engine [Chrome]

These days, the buzz-phrase on the streets of cyberspace is “voice recognition”. Everyone is going totally bananas about it. Google is racing to integrate speech recognition into as many of their products as possible, and there is nothing cooler than using a software app like Dragon NaturallySpeaking to control the Internet and your computer with your voice. It takes laziness to new heights as you can then sit back and dictate emails, website addresses, documents, and web searches, simply by opening your mouth. A keyboard? Pah! That is so 2000s! But this isn’t something solely confined to the realms of tech firms with unlimited budgets. Even webmasters with small blogs can also have speech recognition in their website search engines (provided it is a Google search engine, and the site visitor is using Google Chrome – it relies on something called the HTML Speech Input API ). It adds a bit of novelty to your site and makes you stand out a bit from the crowd, even if it

Steam Introduces Free-To-Download SteamOS, Streams Windows & Mac Games

Valve, the makers of Half-Life, have unveiled a new operating system meant for gamers: SteamOS. According to Valve, it’s meant for “living room machines”, so this could be what the touted SteamBox runs on when it launches later this month. Of course, it’s going to be all about the digital distribution platform Steam. SteamOS is built on Linux, so it won’t run all of the nearly 3000 games on the Steam store, but Steam for Linux has been around for a while and there are a few great titles already in there, like Portal and Half-Life. However, Valve announced that if you have a Windows or Mac system running in your house, then those can be streamed over WLAN to your SteamOS machine. And since it’s a living room machine, you are probably going to share it with family members. So Steam has introduced a Family Sharing mode to play each other’s games while earning your own achievements. You will also have control over which games are shown to which user, so your dad’s games don’
